Halloween
"Canker sores and cavities are the highlights of Halloween." Salem pointed out as he finished another frozen Kit Kat.
On the living rooms oval glass table with Redwood legs, stood a pile of candy bars. Salem and Frisky took a candy bar one turn at a time until two piles emerged.
As Frisky squinted his eyes and glared at the uncooperative Laffy Taffy wrapper, he scowled and hissed a response. "We wore our human costumes to blend in and get this candy. That was the best part of Halloween this year."
Salem, a fifteen year old British Bombay, gently grabbed Friskys Laffy Taffy, and peeled the wrapper from top to bottom along the seam and handed it back to his brother Frisky. "Did you see how I did that?"
"Sure did, thanks Bro." Frisky replied with a purr. Frisky was a twelve year old Orange Tabby. "What will we do with our loot, eat it a little at a time or half now and half later?" Friskys tail made the upper portion of a question mark.
Salem scratched his chin with a sharpened nail as he took a moment to think. "We'd best eat it a few at a time lest mom and dad hide our stash."
"One of my friends had his bag of candy taken away because he ate too much. He got real sick. Had to see the doctor." Frisky put his pile into his pumpkin shaped trick or treat basket and stood up. "I am off to bed. I have to catch the bus for school."
"Brush your teeth. Don't want cavities now do ya?!" The inflection and his brothers wink meant he better take care of himself. It is ultimately up to himself to make sure he stays healthy.
"See you tomorrow Salem."
"Good night Frisky."
Frisky turned and went to his bedroom, changed clothes, brushed his teeth and went to sleep. He'd take a shower in the morning.
Salem picked up the empty wrappers, placed them in the recycle bins, checked on his little brother and went to bed.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN my friends, family and who ever happens across this blog:-]
