My name bespeaks rehydration.
Elusive am I from those whose thirst is like bloodlust. I can revive any man, woman or child's strength. The hardest part is for the tracker to find me where I am hidden. I am akin to royalty among the coca-cola products.
One fearless, cunning hunter recently found four of my offspring. Before his lips drained the last drop of life from my granddaughter, he told the tale of how he found his prey to one of his friends.
When a person has resources at their disposal, deep pockets can be found close by. During the course of his quest to satiate his rabid thirst, he recalled Coca-Cola created me. As he mulled this renewed information around inside his brain, he deduced to contact the company. His search on google bore fruit. A local telephone number meant his query could be completed without a need to waste gasoline, a special commodity.
"Hello, my name is Taneeka, how may I help today?"
"Good day Taneeka, my name is Brett, I have a question about Mello Yello.
"What question have you?"
"I am a fan of Mello Yello. Where can I find it? The big box stores stopped carrying it again."
"What is your zip code?"
"It's 98801."
"Please wait. I'll put you on hold."
"Thank you."
As he waited, his anticipation for news of its location made him antsy. He looked up at his last can of mello yello and grimaced. "If I can't find it, I won't drink my last can. If I do find more, my addiction can be sequestered."
"Hello. Are you still on the line Brett?"
"Yes, I am."
"I found four places on file who have it stocked."
A huge grin crept over Brett's face, "That is great!"
"These are the stores who stock Mello Yello; Ferry Market, Western Market, EZ Mart and the Chevron station on Ferry St." Taneeka took a short breath and asked Brett, "is there anything else I can help you with?"
"Thanks for looking them up. I was down to my last can. Now I don't have to wring my hands as I search for my favorite soda."
"You are welcome. Have a great day! Goodbye."
"Thanks again, goodbye."
I was created by humans, for human consumption. As much as it hurts me to admit, I am relieved that Brett could be saved from going through the pangs of withdrawal.
Now here are thoughts to ponder.
Do you, the reader, believe that someone can be made to do the biddings of others?
-As far as humans are concerned, it is considered uncivilized at this present time that subjection of humans to a life of servitude is inhuman, not to mention taboo. Either the sale, black mail or repayment of contracted debts of the deceased must be made illegal. Our government has made it illegal if we don't have health insurance. If they can fine the free people of this country for not having health insurance; we should be able to fine the bureaucrats for their incompetence for all the revisions and laws passed that squeeze the life blood out of the American citizen. It sounds like their stupidity has cost us more than their lives are worth. If you see or hear of someone being held somewhere without the option to leave of their own free will, gather proof and report it to the appropriate authorities.
How to attempt to define the worth of a man, woman or child?
-In my opinion we shall not attempt it. But for arguments sake, I'll take a quick stab at it. What contributions have been made to their respective communities? Make a list. Even if no reward was given, what impact did they have on their neighbors? When it was winter, did they display courage and coordination as they pulled two people from an overturned 1980's Subaru station wagon as teenagers? They did not brag about 'doing what's right', they made the right choice because of how they were raised. I admit that privileged children who ask for and receive anything with out considering where their parents get the finances to provide for them, need lessons in hard work that exhausts them mentally and physically. In most cases I'd be considered to have an easier life than most. My family, like many others, was not and still isn't rich. I did not want the expensive clothes, jewelry or fancy cars. It was evident that if I was given something I'd be truly grateful; and I was.
So let's recap.
-Don't subject anyone to any form of servitude, unless you want to be put into the same situation yourself; NO! Never do it.
-Only do what's right when you can get your name(s) in the paper/online; Be civilized and do what is right because it reveals the humanity that seeps from all your pores.
